Dr. Luan Oliveira is an Agricultural Engineer with a Ph.D. in Agronomy (Crop Production). He joined the University of Georgia in 2023 as an Assistant Professor and Precision Agriculture Extension Specialist for Vegetables and Specialty Crops. Dr. Oliveira’s primary research focuses on the evaluation of precision agriculture tools and the application of agricultural machinery to enhance the production of vegetables and specialty crops. Furthermore, the Precision Horticulture Team, under Oliveira’s leadership, is committed to assessing the quality of mechanized agricultural operations, including planting, spraying, and harvesting and improving these essential processes through innovative solutions and technology applications. Dr. Oliveira received the 2021 Gerald O. Mott Award from the Crop Science Society of America as a Meritorious Graduate Student in Science. In his young career, Dr. Oliveira authored/co-authored 9 refereed articles, 7 Extension Publications, 40 conference papers, and 13 book chapters, and has secured as a PI and Co-PI ~$220,000.00 in competitive and industry grants.
