This summer, teens from across the nation will gather in Georgia and Colorado for camps designed just for military kids by the Georgia 4-H Military Partnership. The camps begin in June, but adult volunteer leaders are needed now. CAES News

Georgia 4-H is searching for adult volunteer leaders for this summer’s 2019 Military Teen Summits coordinated by the Georgia 4-H Military Partnership. The summits will occur in Jekyll Island, Georgia, Dahlonega, Georgia, and Estes Park, Colorado, through funding provided by several entities. The camps begin in June and conclude in early-August.

Along with the University of Georgia's C.M. Stripling Irrigation Research Park, the UGA Cooperative Extension 4-H program in Mitchell County has been named the 2019 Georgia Project WET Organization of the Year for hosting a Georgia 4-H camp designed to teach children the importance of water conservation.

More than 500 Georgia 4-H youth, leaders and volunteers visited Atlanta for Georgia 4-H Day at the Capitol on Feb. 7 at the Georgia Freight Depot and Capitol Building. This leadership- and civic engagement-based event is held annually to connect 4-H youth with Georgia legislators, provide students insight to the legislative process and allow them to thank legislators and donors.

They say that the quickest way into someone’s heart is through their stomach. For one group of Georgia 4-H club members, their heartfelt, healthy meals are touching the hearts of their community one family at a time.
From his retro sense of style to his effervescent personality, Mason McClintock always felt different from others his age. When Georgia 4-H came into his life, he found a place of belonging, somewhere he could be himself and feel encouraged by adults and his peers. Mason McClintock, 17, of Alma, Georgia, is the winner of the 2019 4-H Youth in Action Pillar Award for Civic Engagement, according to the National 4-H Council. McClintock will be recognized nationally for his resilience and leadership of his program, the Alma Entrepreneur Tour.

Temple Grandin, world-renowned animal agriculture consultant and advocate for the autism community, is no stranger to overcoming challenges. So when Grandin stepped to the podium and told a crowd of young people to think their problems through and face what scares them, they listened.

4-H Leadership Endowment 11/07/18 Josh Paine
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and first lady Sandra Deal were recently honored by the Georgia 4-H Foundation and the University of Georgia during a celebration of the foundation’s 70th anniversary. A new endowment for leadership programs has been created by 4-H alumni and supporters and named in honor of the Deals for their leadership and commitment to the youth development organization.
Jessie Holbrook of Union County, who submitted a pumpkin weighing 644 pounds, took first place in the Georgia 4-H pumpkin-growing contest this year.  CAES News
Giant Pumpkins 10/29/18 Sadie Lackey
Pumpkins are a staple of the fall season. Some people like pumpkins baked in pie, and some like them carved and lit up on their front porches for Halloween. Georgia 4-H’ers, on the other hand, like them to weigh hundreds of pounds. 
Held in partnership with National 4-H Council, the Tractor Supply Paper Clover fundraiser collectively raised $1,999,661 in 2018. In Georgia, 4-H members encourage residents in their counties to participate. Last year, these Hall County 4-H members set up an exhibit in their local Tractor Supply. CAES News
Kids to Camp! 10/26/18 Sage Barnard
This year Georgia raised $27,959 for the Paper Clover Campaign. Each year in the spring and fall, Tractor Supply Co. partners with Georgia 4-H to raise money to send Georgia students to 4-H summer camp.
