The recent recall of potentially contaminated eggs may have consumers concerned about eating their favorite egg dishes. Eggs that are not a part of the recall can be safely used but should be handled safely.
Ines Beltran spent the week of June 15, 2018, teaching UGA Extension's Healthy Brain program, which she developed, to more than 220 Colombian occupational health and psychology students. Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Agent Ines Beltran, of University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in Gwinnett County, recently combined two of her favorite things — teaching people how to improve their health and visiting her home country of Colombia. She taught UGA Extension’s Healthy Brain program to more than 220 students at the University Corporation God’s Minute in Bogotá, Colombia.
Georgia 4-H members learn valuable public speaking skills through District Project Achievement. Students, like these Taliaferro County girls, research a topic and then present their findings to an audience of their peers. CAES News

Georgia 4-H inspires kids to do — to do community service, go to new places and to learn new skills. Georgians across the state are celebrating everything 4-H’ers do during National 4-H Week on Oct. 7-13. What started as a club for farm kids has grown into the nation’s largest youth leadership organization — a place where school-aged children learn to become successful and confident adults.

The school year has begun, and with it, schools are experiencing an influx of dirt, germs and pests. On Aug. 23, the University of Georgia Structural Pest Management Program (SPM) hosted a School Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Workshop intended to help pest control operators that manage schools in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Caffeine does not cause an increased risk of heart disease. However, people who have heart disease should consult their health care providers about caffeine intake. Studies suggest that caffeine intake may protect against Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, cardiovascular disease and stroke. CAES News

Many people start their day with a cup of coffee, and that’s not necessarily a bad habit. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers moderate caffeine intake to be 300 milligrams of coffee each day. That’s two to four cups. And studies show that coffee, in moderation, can promote a variety of health benefits.
The Georgia Structural Pest Control Training Facility is located on the University of Georgia's campus in Griffin, Georgia. The facility was built to train and educate pest management professionals, regulatory inspectors and Cooperative Extension personnel on the biology and management of pests in the home, business and school environments. Georgia has strict regulations and rules when it comes to managing pests at schools. The University of Georgia Structural Pest Management Program (SPM) offers a biannual workshop on integrated pest management (IPM) for pest control operators who have school contracts in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee. The program will host the fall 2018 School IPM Workshop on Thursday, Aug. 23.
Sophia Rodriguez of Liberty County is among the 50 Georgia 4-H members who were awarded first place in their category during State 4-H Congress held July 24-27. Rodriguez competed in the health category. CAES News
