One week after the first day of classes, the CAES Alumni Association hosted the Ag Dawg Kickoff to welcome students, faculty, and staff to start the academic year.  Students can learn about clubs and other opportunities to get involved while getting a free meal from one of several vendors, and cheer to the sound of the Georgia Redcoat Marching Band.  Students can even get a photo with Dean Place and Hairy Dawg.

However, if there were any winners of the Ag Dawg Kickoff, it was the Horticulture Department, which was spread out across two tables with a raffle, trivia games, and prizes for the taking.  The Hort Club, an undergraduate organization of Horticulture majors and minors, handed out prizes determined by a wheel and ran a raffle to win a unique plant, a philodendron gloriosum grown by the Hort Club itself.

The main Horticulture table was run by the Horticulture Graduate Student Association officers and Horticulture staff, including the new UGArden Director, Ty Brooks.  Horticulture-branded bags, water bottles, and more were available as prizes to a challenging trivia game where categories were determined by a wheel and questions chosen by rolling dice.

Between both tables, there was always a group of people from first-years to college administrators trying their luck and learning about the Horticulture department and its variety of opportunities for people of all walks of life.
